From day one, Plumbing Plus has been about going above and beyond, delivering excellence from the inside out. Founded in 1984 by Joe Christenson in Poway, what began as a trusted retail store offering fine plumbing products quickly transformed into a full-service operation. Joe saw the need and seized the opportunity to provide not just parts but also the skilled hands to install them. He built Plumbing Plus as a one-stop, trusted service that covers all bases — from bath remodeling to water filtration, from drain cleaning to complete home fixtures — fueled by grit and grounded in integrity.
Our signature red, white, and blue trucks have since become a familiar sight across San Diego, a mark of trust in every neighborhood we serve. We’ve earned that trust one loyal customer at a time, becoming a household name in plumbing, and we’re proud to stand by our promise of excellence and precision.
In 2001, a new recruit entered our ranks. At just 19, Michael De Silva, with his first of four children on the way, joined the team, starting out in the shop and training under seasoned pros. Driven by the ambition to master every facet of the trade, Michael worked his way up to lead plumber, proving himself with unwavering dedication. By May 2010, Joe had handed the reins to Michael and his wife, Rachael, entrusting them with the legacy he’d worked so hard to build. Together, Michael and Rachael have propelled Plumbing Plus forward, a dynamic duo dedicated to pushing standards higher every day.
Rachael brings her own spark to the team, one that ignites from cherished memories watching Top Gun with her dad and visits to San Diego. Those special moments fueled a love for the area and a drive to pursue something big. Life’s twist of fate would have her move right next door to her high school sweetheart, Michael, when in the 6th grade, and soon they would embark on this incredible journey together. Four children, an amazing company, and 21 years of marriage later, we couldn’t be more grateful to the family, friends, fellow business owners, employees, and community that have stood by our side along the way!

Great service from Martin Ruiz of Plumbing Plus. We had a leak in the water pipe coming into our house and he quickly diagnosed it. He had some issues getting the parts but stuck with it and found them downtown. Once he had the parts he quickly fixed the problem. Great job!Michael Fuqua
